Curatorial interpretation

A purple-and-pink tree with a blue canopy grows through a dense field of multicoloured signs, like a landmark on a map. The mood is lively, map-like and alive. Rather than depicting a fixed subject, the painting sets many signs in motion, so meaning comes from rhythm, density and interval. It rewards slow looking, as attention moves between crowded passages and moments of rest. In the exhibition it appears at position 22 (ROOM V), where its role is: large solo. As with all works here, the title is a curatorial working title, and details such as date, medium and dimensions await the artist's confirmation.
