Curatorial interpretation

Stilt houses with pitched roofs, drawn in black line and filled with blocks of red, green, brown and violet, gather on a white ground. The mood is bright, communal and light-footed. Architecture is reduced to repeatable units such as roofs, doors, windows and facades, so the painting behaves like a map as much as a view. It invites a reading of community as rhythm: many small dwellings forming one shared place. In the exhibition it appears at position 10 (ROOM II), where its role is: three-work sequence (3/3). As with all works here, the title is a curatorial working title, and details such as date, medium and dimensions await the artist's confirmation.

Look slowly

Look for the legs beneath the houses. Notice how the whole village seems to float.
