Curatorial interpretation

Colourful house forms with pitched roofs, fences and window grids gather on a white ground, with a yellow-and-black checker block at the upper right. The mood is bright, neighbourly and playful. Architecture is reduced to repeatable units such as roofs, doors, windows and facades, so the painting behaves like a map as much as a view. It invites a reading of community as rhythm: many small dwellings forming one shared place. Outside the main exhibition route, it belongs to the Explore All 60 Works collection and is best seen alongside its related works in the Cities Of Signs group. As with all works here, the title is a curatorial working title, and details such as date, medium and dimensions await the artist's confirmation.
