Curatorial interpretation
Tall columns in multicoloured patterns rise across a dark field with dots and signs; the catalog reads them as garment-like forms, and they also resemble tree trunks. The mood is festive, vertical and dense. Clothing and pattern are treated as a language of identity: surfaces that carry colour, rhythm and belonging. The work suggests how what we wear can hold personal and cultural memory. Outside the main exhibition route, it belongs to the Explore All 60 Works collection and is best seen alongside its related works in the Kyu Kyu Symbolic Language group. As with all works here, the title is a curatorial working title, and details such as date, medium and dimensions await the artist's confirmation.
