Curatorial interpretation

A golden sun-like disc of black and yellow rays sits at the centre of a pale gold field; the photograph also includes adjacent panels and wall, so the source is not artwork-only. The mood is radiant, calm and ceremonial. Forms that recall monuments, discs, vessels and ornament are built patiently from small marks, giving the surface a devotional, almost ritual rhythm. The work suggests how cultural memory can survive as pattern and shape.
